Additional A Wrinkle in Time Information

Rediscover one of the most beloved children's books of all time: A Wrinkle in Time by Madeleine L'Engle:

Meg Murray, her little brother Charles Wallace, and their mother are having a midnight snack on a dark and stormy night when an unearthly stranger appears at their door. He claims to have been blown off course, and goes on to tell them that there is such a thing as a "tesseract," which, if you didn't know, is a wrinkle in time.

Meg's father had been experimenting with time-travel when he suddenly disappeared. Will Meg, Charles Wallace, and their friend Calvin outwit the forces of evil as they search through space for their father?

What Customers Say About A Wrinkle in Time:

It is great for adults too, btw. What a gift to share w/the young people in your life. All my friends who read this as children said I had to read it w/my children. They were right.

I just bought this book for my roommate so that she could enjoy it as well, and she did. My mother gave me this book when I was younger to preoccupy myself. It's a great book. My point is, this book isn't just for kids, but adults as well. I loved it then, and I love it now. I still find myself picking it up for a quick read some days.

Needless to say I would not recommend buying products from this seller. I received this book in poor condition despite the listing as "excellent" The front cover was not attached and several pages were written on. I wrote the seller who did not respond to my request to exchange or receive a credit.

The theme of the value of the individual and freedom is a worthy one in my opinion and kids will enjoy the story without noticing any of the problems that bothered me. Subtlety is not L'Engle's strong suit, although to be fair it is a kid's book. Evil is represented by the planet of Camazotz, which is obviously meant to evoke an authoritarian communist society.

They are aided in their quest by three alien beings: Mrs Whatsit, Mrs Who and Mrs Which. Like Lewis's Narnian Chronicles there is a Christian theme to this book, but it is much more overt. ''A Wrinkle in Time' by Madeleine L'Engle tells the story of Meg Murray, a sullen adolescent, who with her very precocious younger brother is trying to find their father, missing while on a secret government mission.

Written in the late fifties the book describes the battle between good and evil. It is a good book to introduce them to fantasy and science fiction, especially for young girls, as Meg is an admirable heroine. With their help Meg and her brother travel throughout the galaxy, learn what has happened to their father and confront a monstrous evil.'A Wrinkle in Time' reminded me a lot of what would happen if CS Lewis had written his 'Space Trilogy' for children.

However L'Engle is not as good a writer as Lewis, and the plot is a little bit of a mess.

Had we known that, we wouldn't have ordered. We spent money on an item that we couldn't use. It was not clear that this was a radio play based on the book.
